Gantry

For large mounting surfaces, it is advisable to provide a second support for the X-Z (-R) axes. The support can be realized with a passive guide or roller support as a “semi-gantry”. The gantry is then driven on one side only, with the linear motor axis, the other side is passive, not driven.

For higher dynamics and higher precision, the X axis can be supported with 2 linear motor axes, both of them run synchronously. Our XENAX^® servo controllers are designed for this synchronous operation and the initial position reference of both axes runs fully automatic.

For compact dimensions, the two gantry axes can be mounted upright. Corresponding fitting angles for our LINAX^® Lxs linear motor axes with compensation of parallelism errors are available in modular form.
